Kornets hus is an experience center south of Hjørring, created by the bakery and mill Aurion in collaboration with the Kornets Hus Association. Among other things, the architecturally impressive building is designed with inspiration from a baking oven, and is located in an open landscape with surrounding cornfields.
LITE is proud to have been chosen as the supplier for the exterior path lighting, where the AURA bollard has been chosen for the project, illuminating the surrounding area and path systems. The architectural bollard creates a play of light in its design, which fits in with the angular architecture of Kornets Hus. AURA has also been chosen in the color corten (MARS2525), which fits in with the color scheme of the red/brown building, which is built in burnt bricks.
About Kornet's House
The House of Grain is a national center for knowledge, experiences and inspiration about grain, its history, diversity and uses. In the House of Grain, visitors can experience an inspiring environment where they can work with grain themselves, learn about the historical significance of grain and exchange experiences with professionals.
The idea for Kornets Hus was created by Jørn Ussing Larsen, co-founder of the organic bakery and mill Aurion A/S. “Kornets Hus tells the world’s most important story. After a lifetime of exploring the many possibilities and perspectives of grain, it is a great privilege to see the house become a reality. We are very grateful and humbled by the great support we have experienced from the local area and the faithful contributors. Now we are just looking forward to sharing the place with others,” says Jørn Ussing Larsen.
The project is supported by Hjørring Municipality and a number of foundations and associations, including Realdania, Nordea Foundation and others.
NOMINATED FOR BUILDING OF THE YEAR 2021
The building's activities are clearly reflected in the architecture, as the house resembles both a traditional Danish farm and an old-fashioned bakery from the outside.
Kornets Hus was designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter, one of Norway's most recognized design firms.
"A piece of architecture that I fortunately sense will both function functionally and in its expression reflects the great and important story it is meant to tell. And not least, it makes sense in terms of location in its surroundings between field and sky". architect Reiulf Ramstad told the traveling guild.
The Kornet House has also been nominated as 'Building of the Year 2021' by ArchDaily.
